Cookie Policy
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how ReddGrow Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies when you use the ReddGrow website and our Chrome Browser Extension (collectively, the “Service”).
This policy is a separate document from our Privacy Policy, but should be read in conjunction with it.
2. Technical Distinction: Cookies vs. Local Storage
Because ReddGrow operates primarily as a browser extension, we rely on slightly different technologies than a standard website.
Cookies: Small text files set by a web server and stored by your browser. They are automatically sent back to the server with every request.
Local Storage (Chrome Storage API): Data stored locally on your device within the extension’s isolated environment. Unlike cookies, this data is not automatically sent to our servers with every request. We use this to store your preferences and drafts directly on your computer for speed and privacy.
3. Technologies We Use
We categorize our data storage technologies into three types:
3.1 Strictly Necessary (Essential)
These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are set on the basis of the “strictly necessary” exemption under the ePrivacy Directive and do not require consent.
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Local Storage | Supabase | Authentication. Maintains your ReddGrow login session so you do not need to re-authenticate on every visit. This is ReddGrow’s own auth token — not a Reddit credential. | Session / persistent |
| __stripe_mid | Cookie | Stripe | Fraud Prevention. Used by our payment processor to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions during checkout. | ~1 year |
| __stripe_sid | Cookie | Stripe | Session Management. Used by Stripe to process payments securely. | Session |
Note on Reddit cookies: ReddGrow does not set, read, or transmit any Reddit-related cookies. Reddit’s own cookies remain in your browser as part of your Reddit session and are not accessible to ReddGrow.
3.2 Functionality & Preferences
These allow the Service to remember choices you make to provide a more personalized experience.
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| user_settings | Local Storage | ReddGrow | Stores your UI preferences, such as “Dark Mode” or your last selected product profile. | Persistent |
| draft_cache | Local Storage | ReddGrow | Temporarily saves your comment drafts on your device to prevent data loss if your browser crashes. | Session |
3.3 Analytics & Performance
These help us understand how users interact with the extension so we can improve it. For visitors subject to GDPR or ePrivacy requirements (EEA, UK), these cookies are set only after you provide explicit consent via our cookie banner.
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Cookie | Google Analytics | Usage Stats. Registers a unique ID used to generate statistical data on how you use the website and dashboard. | 2 years |
| ga<measurement-id> | Cookie | Google Analytics | GA4 session and event measurement. Persists session state for Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
| _gid | Cookie | Google Analytics | Session Stats. Used to distinguish users and measure how often you visit the dashboard. | 24 hours |
| ph_* | Cookie | PostHog | Analytics session tracking and feature flags. | Up to 1 year |
3.4 Marketing & Identity Resolution
These cookies are used for visitor identification and marketing outreach. They are set only if you explicitly consent to marketing cookies via our cookie banner. For EEA and UK visitors, explicit opt-in consent is required before any of these cookies are set.
How RB2B works: These cookies enable RB2B, a B2B identity resolution service. While the cookies themselves do not contain personally identifiable information, RB2B uses the data they collect to match your visit to an identified business contact (such as a name, company, and business email) using third-party data sources. This match occurs server-side at RB2B. We may use the resolved identity to send marketing communications. This practice may constitute “sharing” under the CPRA. To opt out: https://www.rb2b.com/rb2b-gdpr-opt-out.
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _reb2buid | Cookie | RB2B | Persistent visitor identification for identity resolution | ~2 months |
| _reb2bref | Cookie | RB2B | Visit attribution and referral tracking | ~2 months |
| _reb2bsessionID | Cookie | RB2B | Active session management | Session |
| _reb2bgeo | Cookie | RB2B | Location-based matching for identity resolution | ~1 month |
| _reb2btd | Cookie | RB2B | Identity resolution signal | ~1 month |
| _reb2bli | Cookie | RB2B | Identity resolution signal | ~1 month |
| _reb2bloaded | Cookie | RB2B | Prevent duplicate script execution | 1 second |
| _reb2butk | Cookie | RB2B | Cross-session identity continuity | 1 year |
All RB2B cookies are first-party cookies set under our domain. The cookies themselves do not contain PII; identity resolution occurs server-side at RB2B using third-party data.
4. Third-Party Data Processors
Our Service integrates with third-party tools that may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies.
- Stripe: When you interact with our billing pages, Stripe sets cookies to ensure PCI-DSS compliance and fraud detection.
- OpenAI: We connect to OpenAI via API. This connection does not set tracking cookies on your device, as the interaction occurs server-to-server.
- RB2B: When you visit our marketing site, RB2B may set cookies for visitor identification purposes if you have consented to marketing cookies. These cookies do not store PII directly. RB2B does not share data with advertising networks or data brokers.
5. Managing Your Preferences
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using our cookie consent banner. Click the cookie icon (bottom-left of the page) to open your preferences and accept or reject specific cookie categories. The banner provides equally prominent options to accept or reject non-essential cookies — declining is as easy as accepting. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the site to function.
5.1 In the Browser
You can also instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept “Strictly Necessary” cookies (like authentication tokens), you will not be able to log in to ReddGrow.
5.2 In the Extension
The ReddGrow extension relies on chrome.storage.local to function.
To Clear Data: You can remove all local data stored by the extension by right-clicking the ReddGrow icon and selecting “Remove from Chrome,” or by using the “Clear Data” button inside the extension’s settings menu.
5.3 Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out of the sale and sharing of personal information for California residents, in accordance with the CPRA. If your browser transmits a GPC signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out of sharing with RB2B and similar marketing services. Other privacy-relevant browser signals (such as Do Not Track) are respected where technically feasible.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top. For material changes, we will provide notice via email or a prominent notice on the website.
